Exercise: Talking Along a Mile

What are we doing?

We will draw a mile long line in chalk and record the comments of passersby in captions written alongside the line.

Why are we doing it?

This is a socially engaged project. We will learn about the element of chance as we cannot control who we encounter.

How are we doing it?

We will first determine where we will draw the line by looking at a map together, then we will figure out how to divide the length between all of us. Everyone will get chalk, and we’ll determine how long we will spend drawing the line and talking with passers by. We will document the line and the captions with photo and video afterwards.
