What are we doing?

Over the course of 1 hour, you will take a walk you feel safe taking, and you should map this walk while reflecting on all the reasons this feels safe to you. . Share your map and your reflections with the class via discussion board.

Why are we doing it?

This walk is meant to heighten your perception of safety (or lack thereof), as well as how those feelings of safety tie to different elements of your identity and privilege. For reference, “privilege” is an unearned advantage, right, or perk that is not available to everyone, but only a specific group. To be privileged is to be advantaged.

How are we doing it?

Think of a walk you feel safe taking (and that you can actually take).
