*WEEK 1*
DAY 1 – Wed, Jan 11
IN CLASS:
– Overview of syllabus, Q&A, etc

– Introductory drawing activity: 3 sheets of paper, draw something in the room for 10 minutes on 1 sheet of paper, then pass the paper to someone else (make sure to write your name on the back). Now draw a copy of the sheet you’ve been given – try to make it as close to the original as possible (10 min).  Pass again, and draw again (10 min).  Put up the drawings on the wall and talk about what we see.
Presentation discussing the concepts we’ll be covering this semester
– Assign cubbies
– Introduce everyone to each other, talk about people’s goals for the course

– Discuss Artist Talks so people can start thinking about it
– Introduce the Applications assignment
– Foreshortening review: one group lies on the floor in a circle (heads to the middle). The other group sits in a line a few feet from them and draws. After 30 minutes, swap positions. Then, we’ll split into pairs and do the same exercise, but one-on-one (people can assume more creative positions as long as the drawer is able to see a foreshortened view) until time is up.
