Resume Writing

When we have our exhibition, everyone will be expected to provide a resume for the exhibition binder. It is ok if you have never written a resume for an exhibition before – it is very easy. Here are the steps:

  1. Your Name should be the biggest text on the page and it goes at the top. Directly under your name goes your email address, and website or blog if you you have one. Do not put your phone number or address here (you never know who might be reading your resume when you set it out in a public space).
  2. Next, you list your Education (college only): Name of the college, the degree you are earning with expected graduation date, and any minors.
  3. Next, you list any Exhibitions you have been in (if you haven’t been in any, then just leave this section off your resume). The exhibition listing should be listed in reverse chronological order with the latest exhibition listed first. Include the date, title, venue, and city/state.
  4. If you need to fill space on your resume, you can include a section called “Courses Taken” where you list any relevant courses you have taken (usually related to the arts).
  5. Feel free to include a section for your Skills. This could include things like Adobe Photoshop, oil painting, digital photography, etc.
  6. Memberships are always a good thing to list on a resume. This could include student clubs and professional organizations.
  7. Related Professional Experience is a good heading that can fill space on your resume if necessary. This is where you would list work experience that may be only slightly related to art exhibits (part time jobs, work-study positions, theatre experience, etc).
