Everyone will do a written and verbal report on a graphic novel of their choice. Need suggestions? Search online. No one can do the same book OR the same artist (the point of this exercise is to introduce as many new artists and illustrative approaches as possible).

Your written and verbal report must include the following:

  1. An introduction
  2. Subject (who/what is depicted in this work; a very brief narrative analysis – what happens in this graphic novel)
  3. Content (what is the meaning of this work)
  4. Form (how the artist works, the medium, how does the form reinforce the content, trends in the visual appearance of the work)
  5. Context (where the artist works, biographical information, influences, any relevant professional biographical information – like where they received their training, if there was any).
  6. A closing/summary

You will submit a written paper (Word Document) online, and it must follow these guidelines:

  1. 12pt Time New Roman, double spaced, 1 inch margins
  2. At least 5 images scanned from the book to support the points you are making in your paper.
  3. A works cited containing at least 3 sources (beyond the graphic novel your are reporting on)

You will give a verbal report, which must follow these guidelines:

  1. Use all your best presentation skills (speak loud, look at the entire audience, etc).
  2. Show evidence of practice and preparation.
  3. You must use Powerpoint or Prezi and include many good-quality images. Remember to follow the recommendations for good presentations.
