Preparation

WORKSPACE

  1. Clean your workspace. This doesn’t mean just putting away books, etc.  Actually get out some spray cleaner and the vacuum, and get your space as clean as humanly possible.  When you are assembling a frame, it is very easy to ruin the materials or the artwork if the workspace is unclean.
  2. Put a clean protective covering on the table.  Dense carpet works great (thus, the need to vacuum), or if you’re in a pinch you can lay down some bubble wrap.  This covering will help protect your frame and artwork from getting dented or damaged if you drop anything.
  3. Organize all your hardware to be within easy reach.  Offset clips, points/point driver, hammer, screwdriver/screw-gun, etc.
  4. Wash your hands!  This is so easy to forget and can quickly ruin all your pristine white materials.
