Crit 04

Step 1: Bring Work

For this critique, each student is required to bring work to class. The work will be graded on the following:

  • Matches description described in the Final Contract assignment. NOTE: Because I know that things happen and ideas change, this is not a hard and fast rule, but if you say you’re going to have 30 paintings, but then bring 3 digital photographs to class without discussing it with the professor, first, there will be issues.
  • Work is COMPLETE. Complete does not mean: finished, but still wet; finished, but not printed; finished, but not ready to hang; finished, but not framed; finished, but not to scale; finished, but ‘I still need to touch some things up;’ finished, ‘except for the shading;’ etc.
    Work must be gallery ready.
  • Prices are complete and a price list is included.
  • Floorplan of the gallery, including rough estimates of measurements and placement.

Step 2: Presentation

Because our work will be at a level of completion, this is more of an opportunity to talk about the work, your plans for the space and how you will be presenting the work. It is also an opportunity for your peers to ask questions, or for you to ask for presentation feedback.

By this point, you should be able to walk us through your artist talk, with the pieces in room 107 or in the hallway.
