Time-table

ASSIGNMENT BACKGROUND / WHY WE’RE DOING THIS

Setting and maintaining a schedule is one of the most important things an artist or designer can do when trying to juggle multiple projects and deadlines. Due dates can sneak up quickly, especially when we are focused intently on other tasks, and sometimes things that seem important at the moment may not be as pressing as other deadlines that are quickly approaching.

Students will be required to start a calendar or timeline of their choosing in order to help organize assignments, due dates and projects.

OBJECTIVES

By the time we’re done with this project, we will be able to do the following:

  1. Set up a calendar of deadlines and projects.
  2. Plan and organize time more effectively.

STEPS

The following steps will help you complete the assignment.

  1. Review Chapter 01 of the Artist’s Guide, paying close attention to the section on making an action plan and timetable.
  2. Choose a scheduling process that you think might work best for you. If you spend a lot of time on your computer, an online calendar might be a great solution. Mobile devices come with a host of scheduling options and apps. Some may even prefer keeping a hand-written hardcopy in a notebook or planner. Think about your personal preferences; technology does not always make things easier, depending on your habits and personality.
  3. After determining a process for setting up and maintaining a schedule, begin filling in all of your projects, deadlines, assignments, etc. This includes all of the assignments we have received in this class, as well as assignments in other classes.
  4. Keep in mind that due dates are not necessarily the only things that should go into a schedule. It can also be very helpful to schedule blocks of time to work on future projects a little bit at a time. For example: A paper might due on September 9. However, you may want to schedule an hour each day before September 9 to do work on the project.
  5. You can also look ahead at the rest of the schedule in the syllabus to fill in deadlines for other assignments that we haven’t received yet.
