05. Cover Letter Final Draft

///////// FINAL LETTER

  1. Once you have gotten your proofread copies back from your reviewers, you will need to put together a final copy. Your final copy will need to be polished, with zero errors in spelling or grammar.
  2. We will be submitting 2 copies of our cover letters, one copy will be a PDF submitted via Blackboard (received by no later than 5:00pm). The second copy will need to be printed and turned in at the beginning of class, before our interviews.
  3. The printed copy should be on nice paper. Now, before you go and spend a fortune on ‘cover letter paper’ nice paper simply means paper that is a step above typical printer paper. My suggestion is to go to the Service Center on campus and look at the different papers they have available. Instead of getting off-white paper or paper that has flecks of color or texture, a nice, bright, heavier white paper will be more than sufficient. The thickness of the paper should NOT be similar to a postcard; it only needs to be a bit heavier to the touch than run-of-the-mill copier paper.
  4. Also print one copy of the job to which you are applying, and submit it with the printed cover letter. This can be printed on standard paper, and you can simply write your name at the top (DO NOT STAPLE IT TO YOUR LETTER).
