02. Cover Letter Advice

///////// WHAT MAKES A COVER LETTER SUCCESSFUL

  1. This part of the project is straightforward: find 3 different resources — all 3 must be no older than 2011 (past 3 years) — that describe how to write a successful cover letter, letter of inquiry or letter of interest.
  2. After reading your resources, create a list of no less than 5 key things that make a cover letter successful. This can include things that should be avoided.
  3. Also make a list of 3 items that were different or conflicting between your three resources (if applicable).
  4. Finally, put together a very short PowerPoint presentation that outlines the following:
    • What were your 3 resources (titles, authors, where you found them, dates)
    • A brief summary of each (no more than 2 or 3 sentences)
    • Your list of 5 key elements
    • Your list of 3 differences or contradictions (if applicable)
  5. Your PowerPoint must be submitted by no later than 5:00pm to receive credit.

The assignment will be graded on the following criteria:

  • A PowerPoint presentation submitted via blackboard and received by no later than 5:00pm.
  • must include 3 resources with summaries
  • must include 5 important elements and 3 differences

  • Missing required elements
  • Presentation does not work
