Transparent Substrates – Body Part

Look at samples here.

Why are we doing this?
Transparent substrates give us the opportunity to examine depth in a new way. We will focus on this unique opportunity to use layering in our compositions. We will also use this project to practice using various transparent materials.

Objectives/Requirements:
We will focus this drawing on a single body part using our 3″x5″ panel, resin, acetate transparencies, and no less than 3 layers. You can add virtually any materials to these drawings because they will be coated in resin. You must portray depth in the composition using layering. It must be a strong composition.

Process:
– Select a body part and brainstorm ideas for your composition.
– Plan the use of your transparent substrate(s)
– Create your work in layers – plan for this to take some time because each layer of resin has to dry before applying the next one.

Grading criteria:
3pt – Craft (how well did you layer/cut/draw/pour/etc? Was there evidence of effort, or does it looked rushed and sloppy?)
1pt – includes a single body part
1pt – has at least 3 layers
2pt – portrays depth
3pt – creativity/originality
