SB06. Color Schemes

This assignment will fill 3 pages in your sketchbook.

  1. Draw a figure on one page of your sketchbook using pen or pencil (no charcoal).
  2. Then, using your colored pencils, on a second page draw the same figure in the same pose using a color scheme of your choice (reference the listing below – monochromatic, analogous, complementary, triad, split complementary, double complementary).
  3. Finally, draw the same figure in the same pose on a third page in your sketchbook, using a DIFFERENT color scheme from the one you just used. For example, you couldn’t do page 2 with a triad scheme using blue/red/yellow, and then do your 3rd page with a triad scheme using purple/orange/green – you must choose something other than triadic for the 3rd page.

Work on surface texture and light source each time you draw the figure. Make sure that you fill the entire page with each drawing (avoid drawing small in the middle of the page).
