A very popular destination for high quality CC0 licensed photographs. The site releases 10 photos every 10 days. It has a nice search feature which you can use to find images matching certain themes like nature, office, work, etc. Has a plug-in you can use with Google Slides.

DesignerPics.com

created by Indian designer, Jeshu John, who found himself struggling to find quality free photographs. All images were taken by him, are permitted for commercial use and require no attribution. You can read about his terms here.

Morgue File

a great source for public domain images you can use for private or commercial purposes; they tend to attract really high quality photo submissions. More about this site: “Looking for high resolution stock photos for your illustration, comp or design needs? Realistic Shots

a collection of free stock photography that looks like anything but stock. All images are free to use anyway you please and every week, seven new photos are added. All images are under the CC0 license.

Foodies Feed

collection of free food images that (thankfully) look nothing like the stiff, fake food stock photography you’re used to seeing. ISO Republic

You can search through galleries curated by subject, style, purpose and more. Please note that no releases have been obtained for the images that contain people, works of art, property or trademarks—so you will need to be wary of using those types of images. Read more about their terms here.

Pickup Image offers a huge collection of public domain images. The site can be easily browsed through tags or you can try the search. It also offers free clipart and graphics.

SplitShire

SplitShire is a beautiful collection of photographs by Daniel Nanescu released under CC0 license. You can browse the site by using tags filter, or view images in mosaic view.

Magdeleine

Magdeleine is a very easy to browse resource for free photographs. It offers both public domain and images that require attribution, so make sure that the image you are downloading is marked under public domain.

LibreShot

LibreShot features works of photographer Martin Vorel released under public domain.

PDPics

An easy to browse collection of free public domain stock photos. PDPics has a large collection of thousands of public domain images that you can download and use in your blog posts.

Skitterphoto

A beautifully curated collection of CC0 licensed images. The site features works of theirs own photographers so you will find less used and unique photographs.

StockSnap is a curation of beautiful free stock photos where hundreds of images are added weekly.

Barn Images

Barn Images is a beautifully curated collection of CC0 licensed images. You can browse images in categories or tags, or you can search for keywords. All images are available in high resolution for free downloads.

Wikimedia Commons

a gigantic (over 27 million images at the time of this writing) repository of public domain images and other media content available in a wide variety of languages.

Flickr Commons,

a joint project with the Library of Congress. “The Commons was launched on January 16 2008, when we released our pilot project in partnership with The Library of Congress. The program has two main objectives: To increase access to publicly-held photography collections, and To provide a way for the general public to contribute information and knowledge.

SpaceX

thousands of photos on Flickr from their missions. Best of all, they’re all in the public domain.

Biodiversity Heritage Library

Located on Flickr. An “open access digital library for biodiversity literature and archives,” has for many years been making it easy for people to connect to nature through nature writing and illustration.

Paris Museums

The works are available under a CC0 (Creative Commons Zero) license, meaning that all copyrights have been waived, and no rights are reserved by the the creators of the work. Other works still under copyright are available through the collections portal, but will only be made available as low-resolution files.

CC Search

Creative Commons has launched a search engine that indexes over 300 million images from 19 image collections, “including cultural works from museums (the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Cleveland Museum of Art), graphic designs and art works (Behance, DeviantArt), photos from Flickr, and an initial set of CC0 3D designs from Thingiverse.” All of the indexed images are in the public domain and released under Creative Commons licenses–meaning the images are generally free to use in a non-commercial setting.

New York Public Library

has organized a huge collection of really wonderful public domain images, and made them all available to the public. This collection includes illuminated manuscripts, historical maps, vintage posters, rare prints, photographs and more.

6000 Historical Children’s Books

The very fact that children’s books were hardly published at all before the early 18th century tells us a lot about when and how modern ideas of childhood as a separate category of existence began.

The British Library

The flickr account of The British Library showcases over a million illustrations, drawings, and works taken from 17th, 18th, and 19th century books. All these works are released under CC0 license and can be used anywhere without restriction.
